Here at Von Steinbach German Shepherd Dogs we strive to breed only the most excellent examples of the breed, according to Max Von Stephanitz's ideal of the "golden middle."
That is, the German Shepherd Dog should be of sound temperament, medium build, strong in character, with a love for the work and its family. A German Shepherd Dog of sound temperament should be a protector of all that is his, whether his flock or his human family, and have the ability to discern between friend or foe and take appropriate action. The ideal family companion GSD will keep a watchful eye on his human family, be a nanny and playmate for your little ones, and a protector for your home. He should never be of irritable temperament, afraid, or overreact to a threat. He should meet force with force, and kindness with kindness. Your GSD should be able to be called off of any confrontation with a single command. With training and consistency, you and your GSD will be lifelong friends.
We have been fortunate to make some great friends in the dog world, not only in the United States but Germany, Austria and Australia as well. Von Steinbach German Shepherd Dogs is a joint venture between mom and sons, East Coast and West Coast, and we can fly your new puppy to you via Continental Airlines to most major airports across the country. Some of our breeding dogs live with Donna on the East Coast, and some with Aron Steinbach on the West Coast on the beautiful Oregon Coast in Tillamook County, "The land of cheese, trees and ocean breeze." Our dogs spend an equal time between kennel and house. Our dogs are socialized amongst other dogs, cats, farm animals, infants and toddlers, grandmas and Harley Davidson Motorcycles! The dogs that live in Virginia also experience the firing range at Quantico Marine Base and the Presidential helicopters landing on the airfield at Quantico. They are familiar with troops training in hand-to-hand combat and running in formation. Whether in Oregon or Virginia, the dogs spend time almost every day in the woods. TREADMILL EXCERCISE AT VON STEINBACH
We use a high quality treadmill to allow our dogs to excercise even in inclement weather. Regular daily excercise is necessary to keep dogs in their best of health. We use this treadmill, in addition to our training in the woods and on the beach, to keep our dogs in top show condition.
